CUBE COLLECTIVE

KASK & CONSERVATORY GHENT

2023 2024

In my final year of the Bachelor's in Interior Design, the focus of the bachelor project was on Interior Finishing and Consultancy.

The assignment involved designing a fashion store of choice, combined with a residence for the owners, within a deteriorated warehouse along a busy road in Evergem near Ghent, Belgium.

Cube Collective is an exclusive multi-concept store, focusing on beautiful, high-quality, and unique Belgian brands. The store is designed to showcase Belgian women’s fashion, balancing softness and rawness through a thoughtful combination of materials, ensuring that both the clothing and the woman take center stage.

Located in an old shed with an adjacent side building, the space has been transformed through a conceptual intervention. A new cube has been placed at the boundary between the original warehouse and the former residence, adding a new dimension and atmosphere to the building. This intervention opens up the space between the new cube and the original walls of the side building, creating a unique outdoor area within the existing structure. Behind the original façade, the residence is positioned to preserve the existing window openings, which serve as a protective and privacy layer for both the home and the fitting rooms of the store. This design enhances the experience for customers, staff, and residents alike, seamlessly blending history with modernity in a refined yet bold architectural statement.
